FY 2022 COUNCIL MOTIONS


MOTION 2022.01

Move that any minutes, Committee reports, policies, procedures or any other type of reports or records which become a part of the official record of this Council may be edited for typographical, spelling, punctuation or formatting errors provided that the original intent and meaning is not modified and that such editing will not require any additional action by this Council.

MOTION 2022.02

Move that Colleen McGurren and Maureen McGurren be removed from membership from the Sanibel Community Church Membership roll as requested.

Motion 2022.03

Move that Larissa Gethard be reinstated as a member of Sanibel Community Church as requested.

MOTION 2022.04

WHEREAS the ordained/licensed pastors of Sanibel Community Church are requesting for the year 2022 the following Housing Allowance to be designated as a portion of their salary income package:

Rev. Kevin Schafer $ amount not for publication

Rev. AJ Hamilton $ amount not for publication

Rev. Doug Hummer $ amount not for publication

Rev. Barry Joslin $ amount not for publication

NOW THEREFORE, the amounts listed above are hereby approved for each pastor.



MOTION 2022.05 Proposed

Move that Practical Shepherding be added to the approved list of Ministry Partners authorized to receive funds from Sanibel Community Church.


MOTION 2022.06 Proposed

WHEREAS SCC has recently adopted a new mission statement,

WHEREAS our current statement does not name the name of Jesus,

WHEREAS Jesus is the center of our church’s life, worship, identity and mission,


MOVE that SCC amend its new mission statement to read:


The mission of SCC is to multiple maturing disciples of Jesus and healthy churches for the glory of God and the good of the world. (Amendment underlined)


MOTION 2022.07 Proposed

WHEREAS the current SCC Distinctives state:


We affirm a rich heritage of expressions of worship. We conduct at least three worship services every Sunday that are each unique in expression and scope. Here at Sanibel Community Church, you will see worshipers witness a broad spectrum of Biblical expressions of praise and worship. (John 4:23-24)


It is MOVE that SCC adopt the following as its new distinctive on public worship, replacing the previous distinctive:


We affirm both the centrality of the Bible and a diversity of expressions in our corporate worship. Our corporate worship gatherings are Bible-saturated in content and Bible-governed in their components, yet eclectic in musical style and expression to reflect the diversity of our non-denominational church family.








MOTION 2022.08 Proposed

Move that Tom and Kathy Chambers, Andy and Judy Gillis be removed from membership from the Sanibel Community Church Membership roll as requested.

WHEREAS they have indicated their agreement with the Sanibel Community Church Distinctives and Statement of Faith, and

WHEREAS they have indicated their desire to be affiliated with Sanibel Community Church through membership,

NOW THEREFORE move that the above listed individuals be added to the Sanibel Community Church membership roll.
